Rangimarie’s Story

Rangimarie's life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at 20 weeks gestation. This diagnosis was confirmed at her birth, setting her on a path that no family should have to tread.

The impact on Rangimarie and her loved ones has been significant, with their world becoming smaller due to the constant need for hospitalisation, concerns about her immunity, and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.Their world became smaller as they had to isolate for over a year, given her condition and the need for major open heart surgery, which was postponed three times. This isolation affected their socialisation, missing out on parties, weddings, and celebrations, even spending Christmas and birthdays in solitude.

Hospital visits became frequent, with Emergency Room trips every 8-10 weeks until her latest surgery. Rangimarie's journey has been marked by three main open-heart surgeries, each filled with significant risks. The seriousness of these procedures is something her family understands all too well, with the knowledge that her life hangs in the balance each time.

But amidst these challenges, a ray of hope emerged in the form of a Supertee.This medical garment cleverly disguised as a fun hero costume provided her with more than just comfort; it gave her a newfound identity as a superhero, a "Supertee kid." Beyond the hospital walls, Rangimarie proudly wears her Supertee as part of her everyday attire, offering her the confidence and strength to face each day's battles.
